“Peek-A-Boo”
Visual Theater performance
Created: September 2014
Concept: The simple game of peekaboo played with infants for cognitive development of the brain is the primary inspiration behind this work. The philosophy behind the game when translated to the adult mind leads to many layers of perception.
Peek-A-Boo, jack in the box, object permeability.
Object permanence is the understanding that objects continue to exist even when they cannot be observed (seen, heard, touched, smelled or sensed in any way).
Seeing, vision!! What does it really mean for us to see? Does seeing something give us more information, more certainty, more security/ faith/ clarity or does it delude us further, leading us to misunderstandings.
Is it really comprehensible, all that we see?
Objects, dreams, people, choices, situations, circumstances Peek-A-Boo on us all the time. Whether we see or don’t see them, they exist. Do we really trust what we see?? Is the want to see it all, know it all leading us to more confusion, more choices, more fear to choose/make the right! choice.
Have we landed in more chaos in search for more clarity?
